What do we know about potential victims of human trafficking in Denmark?

The majority of the known-cases of human trafficking in Denmark are women trafficked into prostitution. These women are not a homogeneous group, but often have different nationalities, ages, backgrounds and life stories.

However, some common characteristics have been observed within this group:

  • They are exploited and are in a vulnerable situation.
  • They have financial obligations to their children, parents and/or other family.
  • They have been recruited by a friend, an acquaintance or relative.
  • They have been identified by the police.
