Women shelter
The Danish Centre against Human Trafficking, in collaboration with the private organization the Nest International, operates a 24-hour staffed women’s shelter, which can accommodate up to 12 women.
Immigrants identified as victims of human trafficking by the police, the Danish Immigration Services or met through social outreach efforts on the street and in Counselling Centres may reside at the shelter. The Women’s shelter is open to women met throughout the country.
At the shelter women can receive acute assistance, including medical, psychological, social support, legal assistance and prepared repatriation programs as well as contact to their families, network and social organizations in their country of origin. Furthermore, the Nest International offers contact to NGO’s in various countries offering support to women during their reintegration into the local society.
Upon agreement with LOKK (the national organisation of women’s shelters), two additional shelters – one in Odense and another in Århus – also accommodate victims of human trafficking who are under protection.
