Social and Outreach Work
Social outreach efforts are conducted in street- and massage parlour prostitution arenas in Denmark. These efforts are, in agreement with the Danish Centre against Human Trafficking, undertaken by the Danish Centre of Prostitution, the Nest International and Pro Vest.
The target group for these efforts are foreign women in prostitution, including potential victims of human trafficking.
Foreign women in prostitution are offered the following support and services:
- Anonymous and free counselling on safe- and harm-reducing prostitution-conduct, as well as free condoms and lubricant.
- Healthcare- and harm-reduction related assistance, including medical, psychological and dental care.
- Counselling and guidance on available opportunities, services, rights and other aspects relevant to their situation.
- Social support, including assistance in contacting relevant municipal authorities, if a woman has legal residence in Denmark.
- Legal assistance, including counsel and guidance with an attorney as well as the appointment of legal counsel for court proceedings.
- Various skills-training courses, prepared in collaboration with the Danish Centre on Prostitution.
- Accommodation at a women’s shelter, including medical, legal and social assistance as well as the formation of an action plan for the woman’s residence in Denmark.
- Prepared repatriation to countries of origin.
