Social & Outreach Work
In agreement with the Danish Centre against Human Trafficking, a number of NGO’s and social organisations, with professional experience conducting social work in prostitution arenas, are responsible for carrying out the social outreach dimensions of the national Action Plan throughout Denmark.
Women’s Shelters
The Nest International, a Danish NGO, manages a specialized shelter for potential- and identified female victims of human trafficking. The Danish Red Cross and asylum centres are also used for housing identified victims of human trafficking in protective custody. Furthermore, the Danish Centre against Human Trafficking, if necessary, can utilize additional shelters throughout the country, according to an agreement with LOKK (the national organisation of women’s shelters).
The Collection and Dissemination of Knowledge
The Danish Centre against Human Trafficking is also responsible for the undertaking of systematic data-collection on identified victims of human trafficking and the assistance programs combating human trafficking on a national level. This is done through the compilation and analysis of electronic registration forms, filed by social outreach workers working in prostitution arenas.
The Centre also participates in a number of professional networks for social workers, researchers and decision-makers nationally, in Scandinavia and throughout the European Union. Furthermore, the Centre regularly disseminates findings concerning the field of human trafficking to the media, various governmental departments and decision-makers, as well as various professional groups through educational training programs.
